Right, with my first season out of the way, I finished some 400k. Not too unhappy, but obviously there's a ton of headroom for improvement.
Used my WC in week 2 last season. wanted to try and avoid that. So I've gone with a very conservative week 1 - with a team that can go in any direction. Defense heavy, mid heavy or top heavy.
To do this, I tried a somewhat uncanny strategy - time will tell if it was unnecessary. I went with a team with 3.0 in the ITB so I can observe the league for a couple of weeks and then make my moves.
Here's week 1 - 59 with Jimmy and Vinny to go at the time of writing this
Par so far - only few games in. So it's still early days, it may still go south or north.
Wilson was a somewhat less popular pick - but I think he'll do well in FPL this season. I think ASM will provide for him - rather than himself.
Was never too big on ASM - he's another who's received a lot of attention in FPL channels.
Wish I'd captained Salah, but also glad I had him at least - did have Mane instead of him at some point.
Anyhoo, let's get thoughts going on week 2, shall we?
Week 2 thoughts
Son to KDB is an obvious change than I had planned.
Sounds like DCL is a better pick than Mitrovic.
Jimmy is in there for fixture after week 2, so he won't move unless he gets injured.

on hold Mitrovic if you still believe on him.
DCL has a nice fixture in this coming 3 GW.
Never thought for Salah to Bruno?

Cheers carrick - thanks for the inputs. Not doing to Salah to Bruno. I am going to wait on Bruno - and see how United shape up this season before that move. And if anyone moves out, it will be Auba, not Salah. Auba has tough fixtures coming
liv SHU mci LEI mun Can afford to offload him now, and get him back for the flat track fixtures he's so predictably good at. You're right on Mitro, I do believe he will come good - but if DCL starts rocketing in price, I may make that move as a PIP holder. DCL should better this season, as long as he continues to start. Hamez will really improve the number of chances DCL and Richy will get this season, so DCL is one to keep an eye on. |

But I may wait another week just to be sure. Yes, in GW2 City vs Wolves from away. that is not easy game too. I would monitor them and just accept price +0.1 in gw2 or gw3 |

Can't be annoyed with that.
Now to patiently watch and not get tempted with transfers. That's my learning from last season.

But both KDB and Bruno are almost certainly going to see a price increase tomorrow.
Darn it - I may have to make my move this week to save the 0.1 pip. I know I have to get one of them medium term - so might as well do it now?
Son becomes one of the two. The other will just have to wait.

Hey Xabi Team value is important but I dont agree with taking hits just to help with catching rises. I would plan for next 2 or 3 weeks and if you need to catch a rise to make it happen, then that's OK. I always chase rises but only when it stops me from making my ideal short term transfers.

hey ns, yeah I totally agree - I made that mistake in my rookie season last year. I chased prices, trying to increase my total value and often took hits in the first few months just to catch players before their rise. I've certainly decided at the start not to do that again. TV is important, but it hardly justifies the hits and you cannot always to make up the loss later in the season, despite a higher TV.
That's certainly a change in strategy for me, this season.
It's one the reasons I decided to field a very conservative team with bankers mainly, and money in the bank, so I can make moves without need 2 transfers each time. So far- that ruse has worked well. Reasonable outlay for week despite that self-imposed handicap. If I had Salah (c) I'd have hit 90+

Agreed. I think to that point, I think I am going to make Son -> Bruno move this week. Fairly boring RMT then
